Health News - anyhting I think might be interObamaesting.

Obama health care plan (thats health related, right?):
Supporters say: http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/HealthCareFullPlan.pdf

Note that Obama's plan lets you buy meds from other countries if they are cheaper (aka from Canada). Also his public option is only an option to increase competition so the health care companies can't be making insane profits while the rest of the country goes broke.

Opponents say:

Palin"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil, " - Sarah Palin

The fact that his plan does have a public option means that the government will be paying for some peoples health care with everyones taxes. The idea is that the competition brought on by this new option will lower everyones costs in the long run, but is it really okay for the government to run its own business?

H1N1 Swine Flu

flu

Click here to go to the CDC for reliable information on the swine flu.

Sources say that the H1N1 swine flue actually has a lower death rate than the seasonal flu. Seasonal flu has a death rate around .1%. The swine flu has a death rate between .007 and .045%, so it will most likely kill less people than the seasonal flu does every year.

Depression makes you less likely to survive cancer:
http://www.healthnews.com/

In a recent analysis, cancer patients were 25% more likely not to survive if they felt depressed, and 39% more likely not to survive if they were diagnosed with depression.

More research does need to be done, as cancer often leads to depression, and it is not proven that cancer-independant depression is a major factor in survival. Also, a depressed cancer patient can certainly survive.

Bottom line: If you are sick or have a disease, you may want to seek treatment or counceling for depressing thoughts, or at least watch some funny movies.
